ELSTAT: Unemployment Drops to 7.7% in January

The unemployment rate in Greece fell to 7.7% in January, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). Specifically, unemployment decreased from 9.8% in January 2025 and 7.9% in December 2025.

The number of unemployed individuals reached 369,146, marking a decrease of 92,711 people (-20.1%) compared to January 2025 and 3,907 people (-1%) compared to December 2025.

The unemployment rate for women stood at 10.5%, while for men it was 5.4%. In the 15-24 age group, unemployment reached 16%, while in the 25-74 age group, it was 7.3%.

The employed population amounted to 4,401,737, recording an increase of 128,154 people (+3%) compared to January 2025 and 23,997 people (+0.5%) compared to December 2025.
