24-Hour Strike at Hellenic Train on Tuesday
Share on:

Employees and train drivers of Hellenic Train are proceeding with a 24-hour strike on Tuesday, protesting against the company's 'systematic disregard' for chronic problems.

The unions and the Panhellenic Union of Traction Personnel unanimously decided on the mobilization. Employees denounce delays in routes, problems with rolling stock, staff shortages and degraded working conditions.

Special mention is made of incidents such as the flooding in the Rentis engine room and the fall of plaster in a Thessaloniki facility. Employees also denounce dismissals and a climate of 'terrorism and intimidation'.

Their demands include immediate recruitment, adherence to schedules, repair of engine rooms, measures to reduce delays and protection of jobs. The unions call on the company for public dialogue through OMED.
