Monemvasia: Yannis Ritsos Municipal Museum Inaugurated

The Yannis Ritsos Municipal Museum was inaugurated in Monemvasia by the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni. The transformation of the poet's historic house into a museum was funded with €276,000 from the Ministry of Culture.
Yannis Ritsos' daughter, Eri Ritsou, contributed significantly by endowing the museum with the poet's personal items. The museum showcases the work of Yannis Ritsos through modern exhibition media, digital applications, and interactive experiences, highlighting his relationship with his birthplace.
Yannis Ritsos' house is located next to the central gate of the Castle City. The inauguration ceremony was attended by, among others, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Thanasis Davakis, and the members of parliament for Laconia, Neoklis Kritikos and Naya Grigorakou.
Lina Mendoni stated that the Ministry of Culture is ready to start the Karolos Koun Museum and the restoration of the Palamas House.
Yannis Ritsos was born on May 1, 1909, in Monemvasia and is considered one of the most important Greek poets.
