Manos Eleftheriou: A Tribute to the Historical and Lyrical Poet

A tribute to Manos Eleftheriou, the historical and lyrical poet, presents an analysis of his poetry, combining the past with the present.
Thanasis Niarchos, a writer and translator, wrote about Manos Eleftheriou's poetry collection, "The Door of Penelope," in the newspaper "Ta Nea" in 2004, analyzing the way the poet connects the past with contemporary feeling.
Eleftheriou was born in Ermoupoli, Syros on March 12, 1938. He published novels, poetry collections, and was involved in the theater in Ermoupoli. He wrote the lyrics for approximately 400 songs, collaborating with important Greek composers.
He was awarded the State Novel Prize in 2005 and the Poetry Prize of the Costas and Eleni Ouranis Foundation of the Academy of Athens in 2013. He passed away in Athens on July 22, 2018.
