The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the first Greek higher education institution to implement the digital European Student Card (ESC). Already, over 4,500 AUTH students have issued the card.

The new digital service, aligned with the directives of the European Union, offers modern tools for mobility, interconnection with European universities, and access to academic services abroad.

The Rector of AUTH, Professor Kyriakos Anastasiadis, stated that the implementation of the ESC is a significant step in the digital transformation of the Institution, confirming the strategic choice for an open and interconnected university.

The digital card offers a common method of identification for participants in mobility programs, such as Erasmus+, certifying student status in all EU countries.

The card is immediately available in digital form, without secretariat intervention, and has a verification mechanism via QR code. It is issued through the Institution's Electronic Secretariat, in full compliance with GDPR specifications.

The AUTH initiative paves the way for the adoption of the European Student Card by other Greek universities.
