Tragedy on VOAK: 55-Year-Old Driver Dead

A 55-year-old driver died in a traffic accident on the Northern Road Axis of Crete (VOAK), near Rethymno, early Monday morning.

According to Flashnews.gr, the driver, under unclear circumstances, lost control of his vehicle and entered the opposite lane of traffic. The vehicle collided with the metal barriers.

VOAK traffic police and EKAV (ambulance service) rushed to the scene at 6:20 a.m. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the accident, considering the possibility of sudden death.
