Vardousia Tragedy: Missing Climbers Found Dead

The search operation for the climbers missing since Christmas in the Vardousia Mountains has ended tragically. Three men and one woman were found dead, buried in an avalanche near the Korakas peak.

EMAK and Fire Service teams recovered the bodies, partially covered in snow. They are expected to be transported to the Amfissa hospital, where an autopsy will be performed by the Lamia forensic service.

The climbers had departed from the village of Athanasios Diakos on Thursday for a mountain route. Their car had been located earlier in the same area.

The operation involved 30 firefighters with EMAK mountain teams and a drone.
