Thessaloniki: 35-year-old Jailed for Molesting 6-year-old Niece

A 35-year-old man has been jailed after confessing to molesting his 6-year-old niece in Thessaloniki.

According to reports, the 35-year-old lived in the same apartment as the girl's family in the Toumba area. Early Monday morning, he allegedly entered the children's room and committed acts of molestation while the girl and her brother were sleeping. The girl's brother witnessed the incident.

During his testimony, the 35-year-old reportedly admitted to his actions and apologized, attributing them to psychiatric problems. His defense lawyer, Dimitrios Zaharegas, stated that his client has a severe mental disability and requested a psychiatric evaluation.

The accused is being prosecuted for child rape and has been remanded in custody.
