Thessaloniki: Scam Alert for Fake Municipal Fines
Share on:

The Municipality of Thessaloniki is warning citizens about a new scam circulating via text messages on mobile phones. These messages inform recipients of alleged debts from municipal fines and urge them to pay through a fake website.

According to a municipality announcement, fraudsters are using the distinctive signs of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and an RF code to make the website appear authentic. However, the Municipality emphasizes that this particular website and the messages are misleading and aim to illegally extract money.

The Municipality of Thessaloniki urges citizens not to make any payments through these links. Payments for municipal fines should only be made through the official website of the Municipality (politis.thessaloniki.gr), which requires connection with ΑΑΔΕ codes.

The Municipality has already informed the competent law enforcement authorities about the case.
