Tension prevailed in Symi following allegations that a 27-year-old Egyptian man committed indecent acts against four minors. The incident allegedly took place in Aigialos, Symi on May 1, 2026.

According to the allegations, the 27-year-old made gestures of a sexual nature against the minors, who fled to a store for safety. The accused was arrested and a case file was opened against him for insulting the sexual dignity of a minor.

The trial was postponed by the Rhodes Single-Member Misdemeanor Court to May 20, 2027, causing outrage among residents, who gathered outside the island's Police Department.

During the preliminary investigation, a second complaint emerged regarding similar behavior by the accused in a previous incident.
