41-Year-Old Arrested in Corfu with 22 Ancient Coins

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Corfu, accused of violating the law on the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage, as well as violating the law on weapons.
In his possession were found 22 ancient coins dating from the 4th century BC to the 17th century AD, as well as a knuckle duster.
The arrest took place after a police operation in Corfu, during which searches were carried out in homes and other areas. According to the Antiquities Authority, the coins fall under the protective provisions of the Archaeological Law and are of particular archaeological value.
The arrested man will be led to the prosecutor, while the coins will be sent to the Antiquities Authority for safekeeping and further evaluation.
