35-Year-Old Arrested in Crete for Prepaid Card Fraud

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Heraklion, Crete, for fraud involving prepaid cards. According to cretalive.gr, the perpetrator visited mini-markets, kiosks, and convenience stores, photographing card codes with his mobile phone.
Store owners noticed his movements and informed each other. However, in some cases, the 35-year-old managed to steal the codes by pretending he had forgotten his wallet.
Police located the 35-year-old at a kiosk on Knossos Avenue while he was trying to make a transaction. During the inspection, it was found that he had integrated bank cards into his mobile phone for contactless transactions. The arrested man was released, but he has reportedly been involved in similar cases before.
Prepaid cards are popular for electronic transactions, as they are available at many points of sale and their value ranges from 5 to 100 euros. Easy access makes them a target for fraudsters.
