Spetses 2020: Trial for Murder Disguised as Traffic Accident
Share on:

The trial continues at the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Piraeus for the murder of 26-year-old Grigoris Thymaras in Spetses in November 2020. The defendant is the 27-year-old son of an NTUA professor, who was initially sentenced to life imprisonment.

The defendant initially reported the incident as a traffic accident. However, the forensic examination revealed a wound from a sharp object.

According to the first instance decision, the defendant, after an altercation, allegedly chased and stabbed Thymaras. He then threw the victim's motorcycle to the ground to mislead the authorities.

The doctor of the Spetses Multifunctional Clinic questioned the traffic accident version, as the deceased had a wound from a sharp object and not abrasions consistent with a fall from a motorcycle.

The defendant denies the charge, claiming he was not even at the scene of the incident. The trial continues.
