Spata: Chinese Hi-Tech Fraud via SMS Blaster Attack

Two Chinese nationals were arrested in Spata for a hi-tech fraud using the "SMS Blaster Attack" method. They installed special equipment in a car to interfere with victims' mobile phones, posing as a mobile phone antenna.
An employee noticed the fraud and notified the Hellenic Police (ELAS). The perpetrators sent misleading SMS messages, impersonating banks or other institutions, to steal codes and card details.
The fraud exploits weaknesses in the 2G protocol. Devices connected to the fake antenna, and the perpetrators gained access to device identifiers.
The scam started from a store in the center of Athens. The employee told SKAI that she noticed the suspicious transactions and notified the police.
