Skydra, Greece: 76-Year-Old Granted Extension in 72-Year-Old Murder Case

A 76-year-old man has been granted an extension to prepare his defense in the murder of a 72-year-old man in Skydra, Pella. The 76-year-old was led to the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Edessa and faces charges of intentional homicide and violation of weapons laws.
According to his confession, he killed his fellow villager because he suspected him of stealing from his field. The lifeless body of the 72-year-old was found in an illegal landfill, nine days after the murder.
The victim's disappearance was reported to the police on August 17. Police investigations led to the 76-year-old, who initially denied any involvement but eventually confessed to the act.
The 76-year-old pointed out the spot where he had abandoned the victim's body. The hunting rifle with which he allegedly committed the crime was found in his possession, as well as the amount of 1,770 euros belonging to the victim.
The defendant requested and was granted time to prepare his defense and will testify on Thursday. Until then, he remains in custody.
