Bar Sealed in Gazi After 16-Year-Old's Death

By order of the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, the bar in Gazi where a 16-year-old died last Saturday after consuming alcohol is being sealed. The Municipality of Athens is initiating legal procedures against the bar that allegedly illegally served drinks to the minor.

Haris Doukas stated that the safety of citizens, especially young people, is non-negotiable. The Hellenic Police (ELAS) has requested data from EKAV (National Centre for Emergency Care) regarding incidents of intoxication on Dekeleon Street, where the 16-year-old was out, as well as the sealing of the bar from the Municipality of Athens.

The autopsy indicated pulmonary edema as the cause of death, while the results of the toxicology tests are expected within November. Police are expected to recall for questioning those who were with the 16-year-old on the fatal night.
