Army Officer Suspended for Drug Possession in Samothrace

An army officer has been suspended by order of Defense Minister Nikos Dendias after being arrested for drug possession in Samothrace.

During a search of the officer's backpack, who was visiting the island as a tourist, port authorities discovered three plastic bags containing eight LSD-soaked blotter papers, two bags with an unknown brown chemical substance (18.1 grams), one bag with two makeshift capsules containing herbal extracts (1 gram), one bag with an unknown white powder chemical substance (335 grams), and one bag with an unknown white-pink powder chemical substance (475 grams), according to e-evros.gr.

Additionally, €2,460 in cash and a mobile phone were found in the backpack. The officer was arrested.
