Pollution in Thessaloniki Port: Two Arrests

Port authorities arrested the captain and chief engineer of a Liberian-flagged container ship for pollution in the sea area of Thessaloniki port.

Marine pollution was detected, covering a total area of approximately 100 sq.m., consisting of an unknown foamy material. The emergency plan was activated by the Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH AE) and a barrier was deployed.

The Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki is conducting a preliminary investigation.
