Fire in Palaia Fokaia: Houses Burn, Evacuations Ordered

The Fire Service is battling to control a fire that broke out in the Thymari area of Palaia Fokaia. The fire has caused damage to houses and led to the evacuation of settlements.

According to SKAI, the fire has entered homes, while residents are trying to protect their properties. 90 firefighters with 28 vehicles, 3 teams of the 1st and 4th EMODE, 8 aircraft and 5 helicopters are operating in the area. OTA water trucks are also providing assistance.

The mayor of Lavreotiki, Dimitris Loukas, stated that the fire is very large and has approached the settlement, despite continuous water drops from the aerial means. A team from the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes is investigating the causes of the fire.

EKAV has been placed on increased alert and is covering the area with 2 ambulance vehicles and 2 immediate response motorcycles.
