Over 480 Fines Issued for Not Wearing a Helmet in One Week

The Hellenic Police are intensifying checks for helmet use as part of the campaign 'Zero Tolerance for Not Wearing a Helmet'. During the week of 22/12/2025 - 28/12/2025, over 12,637 checks were carried out, resulting in 437 violations for drivers and 48 for passengers.

Violations Breakdown:

• 380 involved motorcycle drivers
• 46 involved motorcycle passengers
• 57 involved Ε.Π.Η.Ο. drivers

Most violations occurred in Attica (220), Crete (62), and the Ionian Islands (61).

The new Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025) tightens penalties for not wearing a helmet, with fines reaching 350 euros and license suspension.
