Palaio Faliro: Mother of Deceased Girl Charged with Child Endangerment

The 32-year-old Algerian mother of the girl found dead in Palaio Faliro has been arrested and taken to the Floisvos Coast Guard. She was charged in 2022 with child endangerment, and her asylum request was rejected.

According to her statement to GADA, the child hit herself in the bathroom of her home in Patissia. When they went to the sea, she thought she was sleeping, and was afraid to take her to the hospital when she realized she was injured. The forensic examination showed that the little girl died of drowning and had multiple injuries.

The authorities located her through security camera footage and the testimony of a tourist. The woman was trying to call a taxi with her other two children when she was arrested. The children have been transferred with her, while their father is in Syria.
