Large Police Operation in Ilia, Greece: 14 Arrests

A large police operation took place in Ilia, Greece, resulting in the arrest of 14 people for various offenses. The operation took place on Friday, March 6th, in Gastouni, Ilia, in encampments in the area.

During the operation, 226 people and 152 vehicles were checked, and 22 house searches were carried out. 17 people were also taken into custody, and 78 violations of the Road Traffic Code were confirmed, while 3 vehicles were immobilized.

The arrests concerned theft of electricity, theft, outstanding convictions, operation of a metal collection and trading business without a license, environmental degradation, and lack of an identity card.

During the searches, a folding metal baton, a folding pocket knife, a mobile phone and a bag that had been removed in a theft incident, as well as approximately 60 tons of metal objects were confiscated.

Police officers from various services of the Ilia Police Directorate, as well as forces from Achaia, participated in the operation. The detainees will be brought before the Ilia Court of First Instance Prosecutor.

According to the police, similar operations will continue in Ilia.
