The Athens Three-Member Appeals Court of Misdemeanors unanimously acquitted the three defendants for the deadly flood in Mandra, Attica in November 2017, which cost the lives of 24 people.

Following a reversal by the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos), the former mayor of Mandra, Gianna Kriekouki, the former head of YDOM, and a regional employee responsible for policing the streams were retried.

The presiding judge stated that the court's reasoning will be announced in the coming months.

The prosecutor of the court had proposed the acquittal of the former mayor, while requesting the conviction of the other two defendants.
