Mandras: Defendants Acquitted in Deadly Flood Case

The Athens Three-Member Court of Appeals acquitted the three defendants in the deadly flood in Mandras, Attica, in November 2017, which resulted in the death of 24 people.
The decision followed a reversal by the Supreme Court of the initial verdict, after a request from relatives of the victims. The former mayor of Mandras, the former head of YDOM, and a regional employee were on trial.
The prosecutor had proposed the acquittal of the former mayor, while requesting the conviction of the other two defendants.
