Crete: Ten Arrests in Gang Rape Case of Disabled Minor

A gang rape of a disabled minor has caused shock in Chania, Crete. Police have arrested ten people in connection with the case.
According to patris.gr, the 16-year-old resided in a shelter for females run by the Parish of Chania. She was allegedly gang-raped after leaving the institution as part of a scheduled outing. The alleged perpetrators, according to local media, are Roma.
Six people were arrested as perpetrators of the rape and four for neglect of supervision of a minor. The arrested individuals deny the charges, claiming that the encounter took place with the minor's consent. They have been granted time to respond to the charges on Monday.
There are reports that one of the arrested individuals videotaped the incident.
