Fire in Palaia Fokaia: Houses Burning, Evacuations Ordered

A large fire is raging in Palaia Fokaia, with flames reaching houses in the Thymari area. According to reports, some houses have been burned or damaged.

Multiple alerts have been sent from 112 for evacuations in the areas of Thymari, Tourkolimano, Kataphygi, and Haraka. The Fire Brigade has mobilized 90 firefighters with 28 vehicles, three teams of foot patrol, 8 aircraft, and 5 helicopters. Strong winds are hindering the firefighting efforts.

Deputy Mayor Babis Galanis and Palaia Fokaia Community President Stella Beka described the difficult situation, with the fire raging in a residential area. EKAV (ambulance service) has been placed on high alert.

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis, upon his arrival at the European Council Summit, stressed the need to strengthen common preparedness in the face of crises.
