Share on:

A gang scammed two elderly individuals in Florina out of a total of €32,410 through phone fraud. Two men, aged 26 and 56, and a 47-year-old woman were arrested for acting as "collectors." Two more individuals are being sought.

Last Wednesday night, an unknown man called an 87-year-old, posing as a doctor, falsely claiming his daughter had suffered a serious injury and needed immediate surgery costing €48,000. The 87-year-old gave €30,000 to the 26-year-old.

In another case, the 56-year-old and the 47-year-old collected €2,410 from an 85-year-old woman who had been scammed in the same way. €27,380 was found in the possession of the arrested individuals and returned to the victims. The vehicle and three mobile phones were also confiscated.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the two remaining individuals.
