Clashes at AUTH: Molotov Cocktails, batons and drugs found

Tensions rose outside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) following clashes, with police making over 300 arrests. According to ERT, 25 batons, 7 Molotov cocktails, 10 anti-asphyxiation masks, and a small amount of cannabis were found at the Polytechnic School.

The incidents began during an unauthorized party held inside the university. One police officer was injured during the unrest.

In a statement, the police reported that individuals with covered faces attacked police forces with Molotov cocktails, resulting in the injury of one officer and damage to vehicles. Police forces responded by using appropriate measures.

The Ministry of Education condemned the incidents and requested immediate information from the AUTH Rectorate, which stated that no permission had been granted for the party. The Thessaloniki Police Officers Union expressed outrage over the holding of such parties on university grounds.

According to the police, 313 people were detained at the Thessaloniki Police Headquarters.
