Police Arrest 16 for Electricity Theft in Paiania and Spata

Special police operations by the Hellenic Police (ELAS) took place in Roma settlements in Paiania and Spata on March 4 and 11, 2026, leading to the arrest of 16 people for electricity theft.

During the operations, 230 meters of cables used for illegal connection to the electricity grid were confiscated. A crew from DEDDIE (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) and a police dog participated in the operations.

According to the police, the purpose of the operations was to prevent and combat illegal activities in these areas. Police officers from various directorates and departments participated, including the North-Eastern Attica Police Directorate, the Spata-Artemida Police Department, and O.P.K.E.

The arrested individuals were led to the competent Prosecutor's Office.
