Achaia: Former Obstetrician Arrested for Child Pornography

A retired obstetrician has been arrested in Achaia on charges of child pornography. The 82-year-old is expected to appear before the investigator on Monday.

According to police, a search of his home in Rio revealed thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material, including photos and videos of minors under the age of 12. Authorities report that some of these files depict the accused's grandchildren in nude or semi-nude poses.

The investigation began after EL.AS. (Hellenic Police) received information from Google, through the NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) in the U.S., regarding a user uploading child sexual abuse material online.

During the search of his residence, a mobile phone, an external hard drive, and two internal computer hard drives were confiscated. The digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further examination.

Police have filed a case against the 82-year-old for child pornography via the internet.
