Ministry of Environment Approves TENERGE's «Vrochopera I» Pumped Storage Project

The Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy (ΥΠΕΝ) has given the "green light" to TENERGE's «Vrochopera I» pumped storage project.
The Environmental Impact Assessment Approval (ΑΕΠΟ) has been issued for the project, which will have a capacity of 450MW in production and 537MW in pumping. The company «Vrochopera I & IG M.I.K.E.», a subsidiary of TENERGE, was established in October 2024.
The purpose of the project is energy storage to support the penetration of Renewable Energy Sources and ensure energy adequacy. The project is located south of the Agia Varvara reservoir and SE of the city of Veria, in the Imathia regional unit, Central Macedonia region.
