Chile: Copper Mine Collapse – One Dead, Five Trapped

One worker died and five were trapped following a collapse at a copper mine in El Teniente, Chile. The collapse was triggered by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake near Rancagua, about 100 kilometers from Santiago.
The state-owned company CODELCO, which operates the mine, confirmed the news. According to the company, nine other workers were injured, but none are in life-threatening condition. Rescue operations are underway to locate the trapped miners.
CODELCO's president, Máximo Pacheco, stated that they are in contact with some of the trapped individuals.
