Fire Risk Forecast: July 29

A very high fire risk (risk category 4) is forecast for today, July 29, in Attica and other regions of Greece, according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
Areas with very high risk:
- Peloponnese Region
- Region of Central Greece (PE Fthiotida, PE Boeotia, PE Fokida, PE Evia)
- Attica Region (including the island of Kythira)
- Crete Region (PE Chania, PE Rethymno, PE Heraklion)
- Region of Western Greece (PE Achaia)
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has informed the competent services and municipalities of these areas to be on increased alert. The 2nd stage of operational readiness of the Fire Service remains in effect, and aerial surveillance patrols will be carried out.
Recommendations to citizens:
The GSCP recommends that citizens be especially careful and avoid actions that could cause a fire due to negligence. Burning fields is prohibited during the fire season.
In case of fire, citizens are requested to immediately notify the Fire Service by calling 199.
