Tropical Cyclone Mitchell Approaching Australia

Tropical Cyclone Mitchell has strengthened to Category 3 and is approaching the northwestern coast of Australia, bringing wind gusts of up to 195 km/h.

Port Hedland, a major iron ore export hub, has been closed, as have other nearby ports.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology warns of widespread damage and power outages. Heavy rainfall is expected, with a risk of flooding in the Pilbara region.

The cyclone is expected to hit coastal areas between Exmouth and Onslow.
