At least 56 people have died due to floods and landslides in a Himalayan village in Indian-administered Kashmir, according to a recent report by the French News Agency (AFP).

The tragedy follows torrential rains in the Kishtwar region. Approximately 80 people are missing, while 300 have been rescued, including 50 injured.

Authorities reported that dozens of pilgrims were swept away by a mudslide in Chassoti village, near Srinagar. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that assistance would be provided.

On August 5, more than 70 people died in floods and landslides in the Darali community. Scientists emphasize that climate change is exacerbating these phenomena.
