AKTI's #potavristou movement expands internationally

Over 20 tons of waste were collected by 3,734 volunteers at 425 locations worldwide during September 2025, as part of the #potavristou initiative by the AKTI Centre for Studies and Research. This year's campaign surpassed previous records.

In total, 17,000 volunteers have collected 110 tons of waste from 2,095 locations since 2019. In 2020, the initiative was awarded by the International Ocean Conservancy and in 2021 by the MIO-ESCADE network. In 2025, AKTI received the European Citizen's Prize.

89% of the collected waste is plastic.
