Terra Cypria: Illegal Activities in Protected Areas of Akamas

Terra Cypria has reported illegal activities within protected areas in Peyia and Akamas, including illegal constructions, parking lot expansions, and road openings.

According to the Foundation, the unauthorized interventions were found near Agios Georgios Peyias, within the Natura 2000 areas and Lara-Toxeftra. The works were allegedly carried out without the necessary permits.

Terra Cypria also reported incidents of noise and light pollution due to an outdoor event in the area, endangering rare species of fauna, such as sea turtles and the Mediterranean monk seal.

The Foundation demands the immediate removal of the illegal platform, the termination of outdoor events in the area, and the imposition of strict penalties for violations of environmental legislation.
