Thailand is returning 284 tons of illegal electronic waste to the United States, enforcing the Basel Convention.

The shipments were discovered at Laem Chabang port, in Chon Buri province, and were falsely declared as scrap metal from Haiti. In reality, they contained electronic components, circuit boards, and used technological equipment.

A total of 21 containers are under inspection, with 12 already seized. The Basel Action Network played a key role in uncovering the case.
