Rare Bat Species Spotted in Troodos

A large group of the rare bat species Rhinolophus euryale was discovered in the Troodos National Forest Park by the Department of Forests.
Rhinolophus euryale is one of the rarest cave-dwelling bat species in Europe and is strictly protected by Directive 92/43/EEC.
This discovery sends optimistic messages about the survival of the species in Cyprus and confirms the importance of the Troodos Park for bat hibernation.
