Peru: Callao Port Closed After Containers Fall From Ship

The port of Callao, the largest in Peru, was closed for six hours on Friday after approximately 50 containers fell from a ship flying the flag of Taiwan.

Port captain Amilcar Velasquez stated that port operations have been restored, while vessels are patrolling the area. The accident is attributed to severe sea turbulence.

The ship Ever Lunar, carrying 7,000 containers, was arriving in Peru from Panama when the accident occurred. Velasquez assured that the containers did not contain hazardous cargo.
