Panagiotou Presents Five Priorities for Environment and Climate at the European Parliament

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Maria Panagiotou, presented the five thematic priorities of the Cypriot Presidency in the fields of environment and climate to the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) of the European Parliament.

The priorities include water resilience and climate adaptation, with an emphasis on effective and fair water management. Also, promoting a climate policy that achieves real emission reductions, while ensuring competitiveness and energy security.

Priorities also include the transition to a circular economy and zero pollution, as well as simplifying environmental policies without reducing ambition. Finally, highlighting Europe's role in international environmental governance.

Ms. Panagiotou stressed the Presidency's commitment to a strong and united European response to environmental challenges.
