Paphos Fire Contained: Ground and Air Forces Deployed

A fire that broke out in the Paphos province on Sunday afternoon was contained shortly after 18:00.
According to Fire Department spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire, which broke out in dry grass, wild vegetation, and trees, was brought under control and firefighting forces proceeded to final extinguishing operations.
Four fire engines from the Fire Department, eleven vehicles from the Department of Forests, and two bulldozers participated in the extinguishing operation. In addition, five aircraft assisted from the air.
Earlier, another fire had broken out in a nearby area, in Steni, where the assistance of five fire engines was required. Forces remained in the area to prevent rekindling.
The fire broke out northwest of the Pelathousa community, in dry grass, wild vegetation, and trees.
