Trump vs. Obama: Climate Regulation Overturned

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the repeal of the 2009 "endangerment finding," which served as the legal basis for federal restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions. The regulation was established during Barack Obama's presidency.

Trump called the regulation a "disastrous Obama-era policy," arguing that it harmed the American auto industry and increased prices for consumers. The government claims that the repeal will save American consumers billions of dollars.

The "Endangerment Finding" was adopted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2009, deeming six key greenhouse gases dangerous to public health. Its revocation undermines the foundation of federal climate policy.

Legal circles believe the case will reach the Supreme Court. Barack Obama warned that the repeal would make the U.S. "less safe" and benefit the fossil fuel industry. Environmental organizations announced legal action.

The U.S. remains historically the country with the largest cumulative greenhouse gas emissions.
