Hurricane Erin Sweeps the Caribbean: Warnings and Impact

Hurricane Erin, the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025, is causing disruption in the Caribbean. Although downgraded to a Category 3 storm, it is hitting the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with heavy rain and winds.
Tropical storm warnings have been issued for the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the southeastern region of the Bahamas is on alert. Additionally, strong winds and flood tides may cause damage to sections of highway in North Carolina.
Approximately 147,000 customers in Puerto Rico were left without electricity, and more than 20 flights were canceled. Meteorologists are warning of waves that will affect the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Richard Pasch of the US Hurricane Center stated that this is a dangerous hurricane, the intensity of which varies.
