Mount Etna Erupts Again with Lava Flows

Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, has erupted again, sending lava flows into a deserted area. According to volcanologists, the eruption does not pose a threat to nearby villages.
The eruption began on January 1, 2026, with satellite sensors recording thermal anomalies. Boris Behncke of INGV-OE in Catania reported that the start of the eruption was not immediately noticeable due to dense cloud cover.
A bright glow was observed by online cameras, while at least two vents are ejecting fragments of lava to heights of tens of meters.
