A 'blame game' has begun regarding the cementing of Milos and the expansion of the White Coast hotel on the protected Mytakas beach. Following publications and mobilization of authorities, the Council of State (CoS) intervened, ordering the immediate cessation of work.

The Municipality of Milos, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, and urban planning services are blaming each other for delays. The municipality published a timeline of its actions, claiming it had informed the Building Service and requested a meeting with the Ministry of Environment.

The CoS suspended the decision approving environmental conditions and ordered the cessation of construction work. The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, had also announced the suspension of works.

The Ministry of Environment submitted a report to the National Transparency Authority to investigate the legality of the building permit and sent a document to the Municipality of Milos to stop the works. The Mayor of Milos, Manolis Mikelis, stated that the municipality has acted promptly and by all legal means to protect the environment.

A working meeting between the Ministry and the Mayor of Milos is expected today to plan joint actions.
