Larnaca: Pollution Averted After Yacht Sinking

The spread of pollutants was averted in the Larnaca sea area, where a yacht sank after a fire on Sunday, June 22. The yacht was anchored in Larnaca marina.
The Port Authority immediately mobilized the tug VTS Ayia Marina and the anti-pollution vessel Aella. Due to the limited draft, the tug remained on standby at a safe distance.
After the sinking, the vessel Aella placed anti-pollution barriers at the site of the shipwreck to prevent further pollution. Actions were taken to address the pollution on the sea surface, according to the Port Authority's announcement.
