Cyprus Presidency: Focus on European Green Deal

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Maria Panayiotou, presented the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU at the Environment Council, emphasizing addressing the climate crisis and promoting the green transition.

According to the Minister, the European Green Deal and addressing the 'triple planetary crisis' are at the core of the agenda. Cyprus aims for specific actions for water resilience, climate policy, circular economy, zero pollution and bioeconomy.

Ms. Panayiotou stressed the need for immediate action, emphasizing that Europe cannot afford to delay. Cyprus aspires to act as a bridge between member states and institutions.

The Cypriot Presidency seeks a greener, more competitive and more resilient Europe, with a leading role at a global level.
