Hurricane Erin Re-intensifies to Category 4, Threatens Bahamas

Hurricane Erin has re-intensified to a Category 4 storm, threatening the Bahamas. The extreme weather phenomenon is expected to approach the island complex in the Caribbean within the next 24 hours, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.
The eye of the hurricane was located 1,555 kilometers south-southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, with winds of 215 kilometers per hour, according to the NHC.
The NHC predicted that the hurricane may strengthen further in the next 12 hours and then gradually weaken. In Puerto Rico, over 150,000 residents were without power due to Erin.
On Saturday, Erin reached Category 5 before weakening. It is expected to pass south-southeast of the Bahamas.
