Underwater robots have resumed the search for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, nearly 12 years after its disappearance. The search is focused on a 15,000 square kilometer sea area in the southern Indian Ocean.

The American-British company Ocean Infinity has undertaken the search, using autonomous underwater drones capable of diving up to 6,000 meters. The robots are equipped with high-resolution sonar, ultrasound imaging, and magnetometers to locate debris.

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, after taking off from Kuala Lumpur en route to Beijing, carrying 239 passengers. Despite extensive searches, the aircraft has never been found.

According to the agreement, Ocean Infinity will receive $70 million only if the aircraft is found. Previous searches, including a large operation led by Australia, were unsuccessful.

Only a few fragments, believed to be from the Boeing 777, have been recovered since 2015 on the coasts of Réunion and Mozambique.
